The two broad categories of injuries caused by car accidents are (1) impact injuries, and (2) penetrating injuries. Impact injuries are typically caused when part of the person’s body hits some part of the interior of the car. (example: knee hitting a dashboard or the head hitting the seat rest).  Penetrating injuries would include lacerations and open wounds.
