Knee Replacement (Post-Op)

Also called knee arthroplasty or total knee replacement.  A surgical procedure to resurface a knee damaged by arthritis.  Metal and plastic parts are used to cap the ends of the bones that form the knee joint, along with the kneecap.  Surgery is considered for someone who has severe arthritis or a severe knee injury.

Potential treatments include: Reduce swelling, decrease pain and advance healing process with Class IV laser and vibration electrical stimulation (Hivamat 200). Perform active/resisted motion progressive exercises, improve range of motion, build strength, develop endurance and perform neuromuscular balance re-education activities.
